Why "Live Free or Die"?:

"Live free or die!" On July 31, 1809, New Hampshire's most famous soldier, General John Stark, made a public toast that would leave a fiercely profound impact for years to come. The State motto is meant to remind and inspire not only New Hampshirites, but also the entirety of the United States. The First Amendment of the Bill of Rights commits, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;

or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.” Yet today, we face a struggle that is affiliated with the prohibition of freedom of speech. The Live Free or Die Organization has been created to battle for rights incumbent to us.

Live Free or Die is Youngevity's® chosen motto because it speaks to the autonomous independence fundamentalized in the American dream in representing our plight to achieve the right to communicate the truth to the public about alternative medicine and its benefits! The connection between New Hampshire’s motto and our hopes for a more unbiased alternative medicine regulation system is evident. New Hampshire was the first state to require that its Constitution refer to the people for approval; and our goal in presenting Live Free or Die to the public is to gain permission from the FDA to use words that educate people on the positive elements of supplements and nutrients. To be able to communicate the diagnostics of alternative medicine that purportedly heals, more people will have that choice to be educated about what their body needs and how to fulfill those nutritional requirements.

First things first, what is a dietary supplement? Congress defined the term "dietary supplement" in the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act (DSHEA) of 1994. A dietary supplement is a product taken by mouth that contains a "dietary ingredient" intended to supplement the diet. The "dietary ingredients" in these products may include: vitamins, minerals, herbs or other botanicals, amino acids, and substances such as enzymes, organ tissues, glandulars, and metabolites. Dietary supplements can also be extracts or concentrates, and may be found in many forms such as tablets, capsules, softgels, gelcaps, liquids, or powders.
Supplements have proven to be a more organic (and successful) alternative to prescription drugs, The Institute of Medicine of the National Academies reports,

Annual sales of dietary supplements in the United States are approaching $16 billion. An average of 1,000 new products are developed each year. Although manufacturers are restricted from claiming that using their products leads to therapeutic benefits, surveys show that many people take supplements for purposes such as treating colds or alleviating depression.
While people take supplements that target their personal nutritional needs, the dietary supplement industry has to take extra precautions to communicate what nutrients target which needs.

With great power comes great responsibility. We respect that the FDA holds the key to information regarding your health and well-being. Our mission is to fundraise through our Live Free or Die wristbands in order to fight for our First Amendment right to have the FDA act responsibly; reconsidering supplements and the words used to describe them effectively. The Live Free or Die bands are to retail on three contributory tiers: Red ($5), Blue ($25) and White ($50).
